Malware Detection Alert on Google Chrome is False Empty
PostSubject: Malware Detection Alert on Google Chrome is False   Malware Detection Alert on Google Chrome is False Icon_minitimeSat Jul 31, 2010 1:00 pm

While I was surfing the Web on my computer using the Internet browser Google Chrome, I decided to visit the site to see if any new posts have been made. I was sad to see that no forum activity has been present for over a month now, but I decided to look over old topics. As I opened a topic, I was redirected to an alert by Google Chrome, which stated: "The website at debates.forumotion.net contains elements from the site bin.illiweb.com." The site was subsequently searched for any links to the site by Pripyat and me, but none were found. Afterwards, I discovered that many other forums on Forumotion are experiencing the same problem with Google Chrome, as well as Forumotion itself.

Other Internet browsers find nothing wrong with the site, and McAfee SiteAdvisor has no problems with it as well. It is likely to be a false positive on Google's account, as the "infected" site, bin.illiweb.com, was tested only once by Google. To see Google's analysis of the infected site, visit the following link: http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=https://2img.net/i/empty.gif&client=googlechrome&hl=en-US.

Please visit the following link regarding the problem: http://help.forumotion.com/other-problems-f46/google-chrome-is-detecting-malware-t75286.htm.

Once again, the site should be completely safe to use.

If you remain concerned, updates will be posted here as this problem is resolved by Forumotion.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Note: The staff of DEBATES hold no liability for any harm done to one's computer through the site.

Edit: It seems that when I post the actual infected site's URL, the site bin.illiweb.com takes its place. Please note that the actual site's URL is bin. clearspring .com (remove the spaces).

This morning, Pripyat and I decided to investigate the situation that occurred yesterday. To our joy, we found that Google Chrome no longer finds DEBATES to be assosciated with any malware distribution. This problem seems to have been resolved, and now all of our users can fully enjoy the site experience without the fear of harming their computers.

Once again, both DEBATES and Forumotion are 100% safe to use.

Thank you!
